THE PROCESS

WBS MCLEAN VA

Projects are fostered by a need for function. That function may be practical, as in a structure with a particular use, or theoretical, as in art or pure design. All design begins with opening one's eyes to the space or environment. This home in McLean, Virginia has many of the details typical of the 'Arts & Crafts' s style architecture. Those details became the seed for the interior cabinetry.

WBS Design Cabinetry

Preliminary sketches are the visual memos of the early design discussions, often made without full regard to reality.  These invariably contain concepts that will be incorporated in the later, more formal design.  The free flowing conversations that comprise these 'brain storming' sessions are the very beginning of what becomes a joint venture and establishes the client as an integral part in the design process.

WBS AutoCad Design

All shop drawings are on AutoCad. We have used this format since the late eighties.  Our familiarity with the system with drafting in this manner provides the client with our flexibility on changes, rapport with designers & architects, and visual documentation of both design & specifications.  In the shop, it provides us with accurate drawings which enhance our potential for precision joinery.

MISSION STATEMENT: William B Schreitz Cabinetmaker, located in the Annapolis Design District,  is a cohesive team of experienced craftsmen that produce fine design & cabinetry in wood.  Through careful attention to form, function, and detail, the firm has been meeting the needs of discerning residential & commercial clients from primarily the Mid-Atlantic region since 1983.   Bill Schreitz,  President of WBS Inc

WBS MCLEAN VIRGINIA

Even though there are those that clearly see the project in their mind's eye, seeing the actual manifestation of design often brings surprises and the opportunity for adjustment. We encourage both designers & clients to visit the shop whenever possible to become a part of the project's progress.

WBS MCLEAN VIRGINIA

We believe that when we install our work, it should enhance the space both usefully and visually. We are not looking necessarily for homogenity but rather for a sense of belonging.
